IT Jobs Market in Ireland 2011 – 2012 by www.ComputerJobs.ie

“If I had my choice of career all over again, think I would rather be …..

Answers ranged from “Batman” to “Farmer” to “Playboy Millionaire” !!

What employers need to do to keep their IT Staff44% said “More money” while 19% said “More training”. 11% Said “More respect”.
72% feel they are either “underpaid” or “not sure” if they are being paid the “Going rate”.

I have great respect for Niall and I think this is a great survey.
In summary, if they had the choice, IT people would do something completely different!
Nearly half are looking for more money and three quarters have a feeling that they are being underpaid!
Nearly 20% need more training.
About a tenth, just want more respect, a simple thank you may suffice!

My conclusion?
I need to look at the changes in ACN, because they seem to address the key concerns of these people:

  1. Respect
  2. Training
  3. Money!
